choirs at westland heights

Join us Sunday mornings at 11:00 am for an exciting time of worshiping God in music.

The joy and celebration of the risen Lord was depicted during the Easter evening service with an exciting work performed by the WHBC choir and drama team of Lord of Glory, written by Greg and Gail Skipper. The performance, directed by Steve Horton, music minister at WHBC, blended original music and new arrangements of popular hymns, including What Wondrous Love and Lead Me To Calvary.

The cast included Evan Batson as the narrator, Damien Washer as Peter, Dustin Rawlings as Malchus, and Abigail Juarez as Mary Magdalene. Music was performed by the WHBC adult choir.

The story achieved an excellent balance of sensitive narration supported with a sense of excitement throughout the telling of the familiar story. The highlight of the work was the title song, which brought the cantata to a close in robust fashion.

The music and drama ministry of WHBC regularly presents worshipful dramas and music. Coming in July will be the first children's music camp. More information to come.

Westland Heights Baptist Church this year celebrated The Hanging of the Greens Christmas service. An old English custom of decorating one's home or place of worship with festive trappings for Advent and Christmas. This service is a special service reminding the Church of the fulfillment of prophecy of the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ.

This year, under the direction of Steve Horton, the choirs rang in the festivities with celebrational hymns and festive music.
