I
was born in Fort Worth and raised in the church as the son of
a former pastor and current deacon at Shady Oaks Baptist in Hurst.
At age 9, I accepted Christ as my Savior, but began to slip away
as my youth years rolled on. After graduating from high school,
my life changed completely. One year after graduation, I found
myself married and quickly becoming a father with all the responsibilities
those require. As the years passed, I struggled financially to
raise my growing family and spiritually to find meaning in my
life. Upon revisiting the church I grew up in, the childrens
minister approached me and asked if my wife and I would consider
teaching the 4th grade Sunday school class. Up to this point,
we had not been faithful in attending church, but accepting this
offer gave us the excuse to become more involved in the church.
After a year of teaching, I began to grow restless with my career
and entered into a year of prayer asking God to reveal His purpose
for my life. At the conclusion of that year, my prayers were
answered with the instruction to give my life to the ministry
and to enroll in college pursuing a degree in music. Doing this
required a huge leap of faith. In order to follow this plan,
I would have to reduce my work schedule from full-time to part-time
without any promise of additional income. God showed his
faithfulness to us through those school years and even now as
we have consistently had exactly what we needed, when we needed
it. I am now thankful for where I am in life and anxiously look
forward to what God has in store for my family and I as we continue
to serve Him. |
